Orthodontic Brushing and Flossing
Brush after every meal.
- Use a soft bristle toothbrush with a small amount of toothpaste.
- Brush your teeth and braces using the "3 step technique" we showed you. Angle the brush into the 1. Top of the braces. 2. Bottom of the braces. 3. And then into the gum line. Pay particular attention to the area between the braces and the gum line!!
- Brush every tooth slowly.
- Also brush your tongue.
Floss nightly after brushing to remove the plaque missed by brushing.
- Carefully pull waxed floss between wire and braces.
- Floss carefully around the braces.
- Floss carefully around the gum area.
- Floss around each tooth.
Remember! Healthy gums don't bleed. Areas that bleed when brushing and flossing need extra attention.!!
